Hi Guys,
about 4 months ago I dropped 5k on a top end gaming rig, 8th gen i7, 64GB ram, 1080 ti, 38" LG ultrawide curved monitor and a HTC Vive.
Anyway.. after about 3.5 months I sold it as.. it just was not super practical for me.. and In reality I just missed having my macbook pro that I had for the previous 8 years.
I work in I.T as a consultant and I love my nice macbook that I take to clients to work etc...
SOOO
I kind of miss 4k gaming and VR, so what I was thinking when I sold it was that I could go buy the latest MBP, as well as the same monitor (38" 4k) and an eGPU..... my thinking was I could possibly get the same sort of setup but with the practicality of still having my macbook, in other words I invisioned me coming home, docking my MBP in to something that connected it up to a 4k monitor, the VIVE all via whatever the best eGPU was that could allow me to achieve all this...
Searching around however, it seems to be a total mix of information.. with some people saying bootcamp doesnt work... others saying it does but I have to get an AMD/ATI GPU... or the apple reccomended eGPU for metal....
Sorry if this is all clearly written somewhere.. but I just really wanted a straight answer..
Can I get the latest Macbook Pro.. and whatever eGPU for me to rock a 4k monitor and a HTC vive..
Can it run windows bootcamp
will I be able to 4k game at full specs like I was on my recent $5k setup ?
or did I jump the gun too early.. and we're just not there yet?
Thanks for your help.
