One two pass question

Hello! Question here. I play this game since like winning eleven in ps1. My favourite thing is one two passes.
However in this game, one two passes work great in defense and midfield but when I try with my forwards they give the pass and take FOREVER to run and free up, why is that?
I have the same problem with lofted through passes. Before I could go over the defense and forwards would run but now somehow defense almost always runs with my forwards so I can't use this skill. Why is this?
