I am purchasing a 1999 BMW 528i from a friends elderly mother, itās a 1 owner and very well taken care of. It has 108,000 miles in it and all maintenance has been done through the years. I havenāt owned a car In more that 15 years (Iām 61) I am mostly a biker. I havenāt owned just had to many back surgeries so my ridding days have come to an end. I have a couple questions 1. What code reader and app should I get so I can read and clear codes and whatever else comes up. I have looked at several but they all say 2003 or 2008 and up. What are my options here. I am replacing the battery so I will have to register the new battery and whatever else comes up. 2. I gave yo replace the O2 sensor which looks like a pretty easy task. 3. What about mods?
I have had 2 BMWs in the past, both were around 2006. One was an Automatic and one was a manual transmission.. that one was a LOT of fun lol. One of the first lessons I had when I had my first BMW was that changing a tire after a blow out in the pouring rain is a bitch! I was in Missouri in a pouring rainstorm and the back end started fishtailing it for a couple 360s I went across the median and Into the the opposite lane facing the wrong direction with a SEMI truck coming at me fast. I found out right then that BMWs are an amazing vehicle. It did not stall out through all that and I was able to hit reverse and back into the median before I was toast. I got back I to the median and back into the right lanes, thatās when I discovered I had a blowout that caused all that. I pulled back over.. again in the pouring rain, and right off the bat discovered that BMWs tires donāt mount like most other cars lol, Iām sitting on the side of the highway reading the handbook while trying to change this tire! I changed the tire and got back on the highway and went home, My second one was the one with a manual transmission and had more power than the first one. And having that manual transmission made that car a LOT of fun, I had moved back to San Diego where itās sunny and nice most of the time. I was showing out for a friend and kinda killed the transmission.., I ended up going to a Jaguar XJR after the second BMW, that car had a lot of power too., I did a few figure 8s in that bad boy and got into a race with a Porsche heading up I5. We were at a light waiting fur it to turn green so we could hit the highway, he looked at me, I looked at him.. the light turned green and we were off.. on a fairly busy highway ā¦ racing lol, it was mostly driver skill but I beat him and last I saw him he was pounding on his stealing wheel mad as hell.., for those who havenāt ever drove on Southern California highways NOBODY does the speed limit, you just go with the flow of traffic which is usually 80mph plus, you rarely see highway patrols unless itās ticket day, they get out a couple times a month and start writing speeding tickets. With everybody going 80 plus they just pick one out of the crowds. I was a passenger with a friend who got pulled over.. the patrolman just said āwell today is your turnā lololololo
