I don't know when it started, but as long as I can remember the sky opens up to let loose a downpour of burning rain multiple times a day. I live in Jantep a city covered in Temphrite it is one of the many places that lets RiteSide control it in exchange for cheaper Temphrite. If your not familiar with Temphrite or RiteSide let me give you a quick lesson, Temphrite has all the same characteristics as normal glass but it is the only material made that is currently able to withstand the burning rain that falls from the skies. Temphrite isn't everlasting though as it does wear out much faster then normal glass as every two years it is recommended that you replace your Temphrite. Temphrite is made by a company called RiteSide, this company operates under no one as without their product no one would be able to stay safe from the burning rain. I remember when I was just a kid the government attempted to challenge RiteSide and question the way they do business, the result was RiteSide cutting off supply of Temphrite to the all government agencies causing the government to cease there questioning of RiteSide.

I live on the fourth floor of a four story apartment complex in the city, the entire exterior of the building is covered in a layer of Temphrite. That is the way every building in the city is built the outline is made with Temphrite, the followed up by the construction of the interior by metals that are left over from times before the burning rain began. This does cause a problem though as some buildings are just built of strictly Temphrite which is more expensive but has to be done due to resources being to scarce for any other building materials. My apartment complex was standin before the burning rain began I was told, the owners put the Temphrite layer on the outside after the second burning rain fell and repaired the building.

Six days a week I wake up get dressed and head out of my apartment to go to work. The streets all lined with above ground tunnels made out of Temphrite to allow safe travel to your homes and jobs. I have a twenty minute walk to my job, I work for RiteSide as a quality assurance agent. The RiteSide building I work in is forty five stories high made completely of Temphrite, I work on the twenty third floor, and I can say with certainty it really is weird working in a building made completely of Temphrite as there is not privacy anywhere. I try to keep to myself at work and just do my job and go home but today would be different.

My phone began to ring right after my shift had began, I answered it to here my manager on the phone, " Josh can come up to the twenty fifth floor, to speak with me and Mr. Weaver. "

My heart was beating quickly as I've never been called into the office and let alone into the office with Mr. Weaver there but I responded calmly " I will be right up sir".

I walked to the elevator looking up through the ceiling made of Temphrite can could see the conference room where my manager and Mr. Weaver were sitting. I got on the elevator and took it up to the twenty fifth floor, I could see the office for my meeting straight ahead as the doors opened I walked confidently to the office even if on the inside I was panicking unsure of what this meeting was for. I step into the office and close the door behind me, I could feel all the workers on the floor looking in through the Temphrite walls trying not to be noticed but I knew they were curious what this meeting was about.

Mr. Weaver stared at me with like he was sizing me up for what felt like an eternity but could not have been more than a few seconds. " Josh Trandin the work you have done here has shown consistency and has come with praise from the people that you've dealt with."

My heart beat slowed as I realized this was most likely not going to end in the untimely demise of my career, " thank you Mr. Weaver I do what I can for the company."

Mr. Weaver smiled showing his perfectly white teeth as if they had just been whitened " Mr. Trandin we will be promoting you to a mobile quality assurance agent, it would more or less be the same job you have now except you would be traveling to different locations to check on issues in person."

I thought to myself I would get to leave Jantep? I've never been outside of this city is it even safe outside of Jantep let alone any city, " I will... do my best".

"Great you will be leaving tomorrow in a company vehicle to head to Gareck to check on a factory there, pack your things tonight as you will leave at 7am" said Mr. Weaver

I left the office, then the building and went straight home to pack, there is no arguing with this new promotion even if I don't want it the company always gets what it wants.
