Hi, I'm a young adult (22) living in Ireland and have been trying to actually start cooking for myself.
I can be a somewhat paranoid/nervous person and have burnt myself on several occaionsl kettles, soldering irons, chip fryers. I've never been to had to go to the hospital as result but basically every notable injury in my life has been a burn so I'm naturally very nervous getting my imprecise hands near anything hot, (the even shake a tiny bit when I have to be precise with individual fingers.)
I've been mostly able to get over this but the one thing that consistently causes me frustration, is when it comes time to pull the tray out of the oven or the pan off the stove to either shift food onto a plate or turn it over for more even cooking.
I have a pair of oven clothes but not being able to feel what I'm actually touching and how decreases my confidance, and presicion, even further. I have a pair of tongs but (I don't know if I just have a bad pair or not) it takes to much effort to actully close them, and sliding under the food to get into a good spot to grip (like trying to turn over potato waffles) can be awkward in of itself.
Does anyone have any tips or advice that could maybe make this run a little smoother?
