My 2-year-old son often has problems when it comes to eating. There will be several days in a row where there is no issue and then there will be several days in a row where he immediately vomits anything he eats, along with a lot of clear mucus. Water, vomit. Puree, vomit. Solids, vomit. We thought it may be a chewing issue because sometimes the pieces he vomits up look completely intact so we try and encourage chewing. However, he will sometimes just vomit anything including liquids. We have completely cut dairy from his diet and this seemed to reduce the occurrence of it but has not come close to eliminating it.
We have taken him to a Paediatrician, a Gastroenterologist, an ENT, a Respiratory clinic, a Cardiac clinic, and an Occupational Therapist. No one has been able to tell us "this is what is happening and this is how you treat it." They usually just refer us to another specialist or prescribe us multiple medications. He has also had multiple tests including blood tests and Barium Swallow but these are all clear. However, he is yet to have an endoscopy.
Researching online suggests to me that this could be dysphagia, despite all the experts never suggesting this. My next guess is to take him to see a Paediatric Speech Pathologist because apparently they can teach chewing and swallowing techniques?
Can anyone point me in the right direction please? We are becoming emotional wrecks because of this.
