I look on dating apps and don't see anyone who likes the things I do. I don't have a tastefully athletic pic of me rock climbing or cycling. I don't have a dog with a bandana or a carefully curated cottagecore house. I have dried roses, board games, and Anne Rice novels.

I'm low ego. I don't have an 18 page checklist of requirements for a woman beyond them just being authentic and having some overlap.

But I keep hearing I should "dial it back", "you look better without the makeup", and not long ago "stop being a scary lesbian vampire" from my best friend.

Which... you know... I don't think it's scary at all. Just look at that cat.
