Soda & DXM causing me to puke?

I've puked twice after taking DXM (both around 750-900mg if I remember correctly), and both times soda was involved. The first time I had swallowed Freebase RoboTabs with a grape 24oz Faygo & Later finished it. The second time I had mixed about 750mg (75mL) of RoboCough syrup into about 3/4 to 4/5 of a 20oz Sprite, drinking the entire bottle. Also, on both occasions I puked right around the middle of the come up. Has this happened to anybody else, and does anybody know why this happens?
