I mean don't get me wrong, Dune was alright. It was a slower paced than I was expecting but I still enjoyed it. The second was probably my favorite, if only for like the last 1/3 of the book. The third one was also pretty good! And then things got weird with GEoD. I thought it was definitely different, but figured that things would be.... a lot different in the next books. Am I the only one who thinks that frank was off his fucking rocker? What the hell were some of the things in these books. Honestly the thing that bugs me the most are charidogs. They are just totally and utterly immersion breaking. Then it gets really weirdly about sex, like, actually about sex. And the weird child rape-ish scenes... I know the seeds of that were kinda there in Dune but man this shit was just so weird. I didn't even care nor was i shocked (are you ever supposed to be with this series? I cannot think of many plot points that aren't basically told are going to happen to you the whole time...) when CH Spoiler Ordade dies The characters stop being interesting or unique and I don't think there's enough world building. Book 4 also gets really weird when you compare it to his personal life.... shivers
I also have really low expectations for this movie coming up. I want it to be good, but I don't think it will. But even if it does do well, and I think the odds are against it, I don't see sequels being made for the rest of the series. It isn't what blockblusters are nowadays and I don't think they are planning for it to go that long. I will eat a pair of sweaty socks if they make a GEoD movie.
