Who’s with me?
I was completely blown away by her performance as the Reverend Mother. From the first scene she appears in in part 1 “Defiance in the eyes, like his father.” Chills ran down my spine, and I knew Denis had made the right choice for that character.
She has a tough job, she is covered head to toe in all black robes, so can convey little through body language and even her face is covered with a veil leaving little she can show through facial expressions, but even with so little to use and little screen time she leaves a powerful impression, mainly through her voice (and I’m not talking about “the voice”).
She is terrifying in a way that feels real, and it’s totally convincing that other characters including the Baron are scared of her, in a role that could so easily turn into “wicked witch” camp or cliche. What do you all think?
