Hi there,
I have iphone12 pro and wanted to go for a digital detox, but its important for me to have a phone thats kindof private and i realised my best bet is a google pixel phone with graphene os
It costs a lot and not too much fun. So i decided to build a phone for my needs. So I ordered an arduino giga board. And a few stuff to be able to create something i need
The question is: would anybody be interested in a phone whats completely open source and has a feature set of:
- gps
- 4g/lte
- sms/mms
- phone call receiving and initiateing
- sensor data: temp, barometer, moisture sensor (why would it need to communicate with the internet to know what statistics do my surroundings have)
- wifi
- BLE
- 24bit 48khz dac with 32gb storage for music and media content
Connectors: - Usb-A (can do host mode) - 2x usb c (one can do the data and one is for charging) - 3.5 jack
Kill switches: - for the baseband processor - for the main board
Status led: front facing status led (could be turned off) thats showing if the 4g/lte/gprs/gsm… board is communicating
Later on i can do costum pcb making the phone as slim as possible. Could do a few options there for modulaity (people could decide how big battery do they need, which modular functions do they need (be this new sensor or anything… the main board could be expanded with a few options that the user can tailor to they needs or rebuild them differently (open source<3). It could be a community driven project if you guys are open for that development. Or would support the project then hit me up in dms :) i just ordered everything 2 days ago. If there are interest i can do updates about the development
Edit:
Google maps has an endpoint whats planning the route in text format. That could be used as a navigation. Also i need telegram but that one has an api too… spotify aounds like a long shot but ill check around if i can do anything with its api… worst case scenario ill try soundcloud or something similar
