The past weeks I’ve been searching for something, something that does not yet exist. No feature/dumb phone really exists out of the box that cater towards the utility needed in modern life without jumping through 100 hoops. Two camps I ended up seeing the most is you get a smart phone, some soulless brick and dumb it down or you settled for something with Kai os and struggle with support, service and side loading software etc. so I started designing something I liked which really started me thing what features are essential and what features go too far? I travel so much I can’t live with a feature phone, to many local apps for rides, airlines, hotels, translation etc But At what point do features become a distraction I love mobile photography and cameras are essential, restaurants with qr codes being a pain too, but at what point does that camera turn into holding up your phone at a concert instead of experiencing it with friends
QWERTY! with a modern design, cool metal and a customizable backplate to spice things up. Do you prefer something simple and modern or do you like the character of more retro stuff? While I don’t mind a regular display I’d love something with E-ink (everything I’ve seen or tried is a disappointment) Something with music Bluetooth and a headphone jack, I listen to a ton A removable back for hot swappable batteries, dual sim, and micro sd card is a must. And final operating system, what makes sense to me Is android with a custom store with apps that can be voted on by a community so you have modern features and tools but not distractions.
Lmk what you think I’d love to hear y’all’s opinions.
