Don’t go non-compliant with your DUI classes
Post Body

I had a DUI from 2020 that was dismissed but as some may know, dismissals from the courts don’t affect the DMVs suspension. That suspension was due to end in a few days, December 3rd, and I was looking forward to getting my license back.

I called the mandatory action unit today to make sure everything was in order and i’d be able to get my license after my suspension was over. I am currently enrolled in an 18 month DUI class from a DUI back in 2019. While completing this class, they filed me as non-comp for not paying or missing too many classes (can’t remember which it was) and because of that I will have to complete my class before being able to get my license.

My license has been suspended over a year at this point and now i’m adding another 6 - 7 months to that suspension. I am extremely bummed out about this. I thought i’d soon be driving and going back to living a normal life soon just to be hit with this. I’ve felt like a loser not being able to drive all this time and now I get to feel like this another half a year. I have a car i’ve been making payments on this whole time that I cannot drive, just making it that much worse. Also, turns out that because I got a non-comp on my records, I can’t even get a restricted license.

Called the county my class was in before I transferred to another county to see if they could remove the non-comp somehow and no luck. Only hope now is some number I got from the mandatory action unit that I left a message at. If I’m remembering right it was the states health and human services help line or something.

Please learn from my mistake. Stay up to date on payments. Go to classes. I wish i had known this before hand and maybe I wouldn’t be in the situation i’m in now.

I’m in California btw and if anyone has any advice I’d appreciate it.
