If this is just a different set of cards you can purchase while we still have the option to buy the other cards whether it be in packs or via wild cards this won’t impact the game very much. It would just be a different way to buy cards you may or may not want.

If however we are no longer to be able to purchase cards outside of Base Set 2 this may very well cripple the game. I cringe when I see how many hours I played in Steam already. Knowing that the effort I put in to get cards to play a specific deck are going to be useless would easily make me quit. Why spend more time on a game to build up more cards that may very well get outlawed again?

Even if we still have the opportunity to purchase cards outside of Base Set 2 this still may be the death knoll for the game if it splits up the player base. There have been thoughts that the number of active players has been steadily going down for a little bit now. If we decide that you can either play with people who are only using BS2 or people who are using all cards, it is just going to shrink the player base for anyone on either side.

It seems that they are removing many of the most commonly used cards to help balancing without actually fixing the balancing. What happens when one hero becomes too powerful in the new BS2 only meta? BS3 with different cards until they get it right? This seems like a downward spiral and possibly the end of the game that hasn’t been around that long to begin with.

I'm hoping they don't create separate play modes and just leave this as a new option of a pack to buy. Otherwise this may be the end of the game for a lot of people.
