When 5 out of 6 presidential candidates decided that they would rather have the Democratic National Committee to choose who becomes their party's standard bearer over the votes of average people it sickened me to the core. The real possibility that oligarchs, superdelegates and the political powerful will silence the people's voice because Vermont Sen.Bernie Sanders doesn't play their way freaked mebto the core.
Then, from a soft whisper of childhood past, Dr. Seuss came to mind in this pivotal hour. I thought of the story "Horton Hears a Who" Where Horton the elephant was the only person to hear what the people of Who were saying. Others thought that he was a silly elephant, but Horton said boldly that "a person is a person no matter what size."
Ladies and gentlemen, we are the "Who" and I think like those mythical creatures we need to make our voices heard. The working class needs to send a message to the DNC, once and for all, that our lives will not be played with simply because they don't like The Choice of person that we voted for. I don't know what that looks like, but I do believe that it may take us hitting the streets across the country to send a very clear message.
I'm only one person.
I don't have power, prestige, or any political backing. I work 8 hours like everybody else, and sometimes weekends, but we're all trying to survive and we want somebody to finally stand up for us and give us policies that works for us.
I'm just throwing it out there, but our country has marched for very important moments. Most recently or youth stood together nationwide to make their case against gun violence in schools. I do believe we need to hit the streets because our very democracy is at stake.
