Curios on peoples thoughts on snare selection for a gig. I play a large variety of places outdoors, Small pubs, Medium to large halls some with stages and acoustic baffling and other just basketball courts.

I have a nice collection of snares Wood, Steel, Brass and even a Titanium.

I feel like I should give love to all my equipment so I usually just randomly grab a snare that I haven't played for a while and use it. Unfortunately we don't typically get a sound check so I'm stuck adjusting on the fly. Sometimes they sound great sometimes sound like crap. I let my wife choose a snare for me at our last show. It was a small pub I was in the back half in the pub and half on the patio. The wood snare she selected sounded great so it got me thinking.....

Do you find that certain snares sound better in certain acoustic environments?
