Ok, a bit to preface here.
I live in Michigan. I was flying legally at a public park. I have a CC permit, and was carrying.
While doing around doing a maiden of my new done, and getting a feel for her, away from anyone else, and within LOS.
A sheriff's deputy and a man claiming to be from the FAA approached and ordered me to land.
The FAA agent said I was in violation of FAA regs due to me being armed while piloting. He could not cite the reg, and the deputy just kinda looked at me and shrugged.
The agent tried to take my radio and drone, but stopped when I took a defensive posture. Note, I did not draw, and the deputy also took a readiness posture, also without drawing.
The agent room a step back, and type me to pack up and leave, and I would be hearing from his office within the week.
This was 2 weeks ago, and I have heard nothing from the FAA, or the sheriff's dept.
My question: does the FAA have the authority to restrict constitutional rights of a pilot flying a drone legally carrying legally in a public place?
Also note I am not looking for legal advice I am looking for thoughts and opinions. I have emailed the lawyer and have not heard back from them yet.
