Aircon problems?

Hello
Earlier in the year I took my car to a local car garage who advertised aircon regas as my car wasn't producing cold air.
I had problems with them overall, but after I noticed it still wasn't working. I didn't want to go back to them anyway.
I was wondering is it likely that there is a leak, or more likely they just ripped me off?
If I go to another place now, would I be best asking for an inspection of the aircon system or just asking for another regas?
