I am a 32 YO male residing alone in Jacksonville FL who is in the process of getting my drivers license and buying my first car (I took drivers ed at 16 but financial concerns and family issues have kept me from progressing until now). I've been doing all my research that I can and it seems like unless you are a 16YO with parents to buy the car for you and have on their insurance it's set up to be pretty impossible to get started!
In order to get the drivers license I have to provide the vehicle which also has to be insured, if you buy a car from a dealership you have to have a drivers license to drive it off the lot and you have to have insurance (which requires you to have a drivers license to set up!). I don't really want to buy privately if I don't have to because I don't know enough about cars to know if I'm getting screwed and Florida has no Lemon Law.
A friend of mine works at Carmax and he notified me that they have one of the cars I'd like to get in good condition for a REALLY good price, we've worked it out so that he'll be buying it (ill pay he just does the actual purchase) and then he'll transfer the title to me. However I'm shopping for insurance (which I have to have at the time of purchase) and so far they all require me to have a License!
This whole thing is starting to get really frustrating!
