To start off, I haven't done an in-depth analysis of most of the Harry-is-Merlin theories out there, nor do I have much background knowledge of the lore of the most famous wizard. Most of the theories I have read involve some sort of time-travel by Harry.
I don't see how this is possible. I mean, we know that time travel is a Big Deal to some major players. It has been said several times that, not only is time-travel to the past extremely dangerous, but it is also extremely costly. And as you go farther back, the energy required grow exponentially, or that's my understanding of it. As far as time-travel forward, I don't think that really counts. That sort of thing could be accomplished by traveling to certain realms of the NeverNever, or locking yourself in a state of virtual non-existence until a predetermined time.
Now, most people point to the similarities between events surrounding Harry and Merlin. I don't think this proves anything. The Dresdenverse has a strong sense of symmetry to it, so I am more inclined to believe that Harry will have a similar mission to Merlin, something that is so important in The Grand Scheme of Things that it draws events that mirror Merlin.
I just want to know if I'm alone here.
