Last year around this time I had just reached level 4 and had a goal of 80 minutes a day. For the preceding months I had been increasing my goal in increments of 5 minutes per month and would eventually reach my current goal of 95 minutes a day.
Since last year I have remained consistent with my videos and podcasts and noticed so much improvement. I’m over 800 hours now and look forward to level 6 coming up quick!
Here are a couple things I have learned and want to improve for next year. The first is making a note about what videos I’m watching and how challenging they are. As well as writing a little blurb about what I’m thinking about with my Spanish learning and where I hope to be next year. I wish I had done this in 2024 because although I know around how I felt I wish I could have something to tangibly compare it to.
The second is working on relaxing with my learning. We all learn at our own pace and the goals we set are mostly personal. It’s okay to do a little less or a little more each day depending on how you are feeling. Burnout can be very real and often times it’s hard to know when to call it quits for the day, even if you haven’t met your goal.
The journey has been so much fun and i can’t wait to see mine and everyone else’s progress throughout the year. Although video watching is often a solitary endeavor, it’s encouraging to have the DS team and sub in it together with me. Happy New Year!
