Is buying a microphone worth it just for Seaman?

I've never played the game and I know it's the only game that really makes use of the mic (alien front online excluded here) so with the microphone being around $60, I have to ask, is Seaman worth the investment? Or am I not really missing much? Seems kinda trivial having a game that I'm required to play for a little bit daily just to make sure the titular seaman doesn't die. Idk, you tell me
