A little over a year ago I painstakingly collected all of the weapons in Drakengard to get all of the endings. I stood up as I feverishly tried to beat the final ending which was basically a super difficult rhythm game and after 40 or so tries I did it. I loved the final ending.
I recall hearing A lot of you talk about about 2 being inferior to 1. So I held off for a long time. Well, the other day I finally started, and Holy shit, I love this game. I think it's so much better than 1. Yes, 1 had a deeper/darker story, better writing, and a few mechanical choices that 2 should have stuck with, but overall, 2 fixes so many of the gameplay issues that 1 has!
Switching between characters makes sense (it's essentially an added health bar, let alone the whole strength/weakness element), I like the history behind each weapon this time even more, the blocking/parrying/dodging (with real i-frames!) has a lot of surprising depth to it.
Look, I definitely have things to complain about (Yaha boss fight, I'm looking at you), but ultimately I'm really enjoying this game. I hate the way the sphere attacks are handled with the dragon. The rng for actually collecting them from enemies sucks. Should have just been a mana bar tbh. But overall I love the game.
Why did you all tell me this game was bad!?
