I love the game so much. I've been dying to play a DQM game at release since Nintendo Power had a beginners guide to DQM on Gameboy. The monsters were cute and I was only turned off by the terrible cover art.

I loved DQ4 after playing it last Summer on DS. I initially couldn't figure out why 4 was in SSB but I understand now. And seeing the story being related to 4 drew me in further. I get Annikin from Star Wars vibes from the story seeing Psaro.

The only thing that concerns me is the synchro charts. I like how easier it is with genders/types removed but they added long sync chains to get to some of the best monsters. This isn't a real concern to me but for kids or people playing the game for the first time or casually.

I'm sure that we'll have better resources and synchro charts in time but dang is the road to top tier monsters filled with tons of monster capturing. The DLC fixes this slightly but the monsters are tough to catch starting out.

I definitely recommend the game especially for those wanting a monster taming game that isn't the one big one that keeps putting out games with glaring performance issues.
