UPDATE

After several hours on the phone, managed to get it cancelled and refunded, despite it being less than 48 hours before the date. Hotel Services said they are used to their system acting wonky every time the Hunger Games come up, but that this year was especially bad on their end. So keep an eye on your confirmation emails just in case, I guess.

So the Bonvoy app ACTUALLY let me go all the way through, pick my dates for next year, select a room, confirm my info AND submit my deposit…

And then when I get the confirmation email and my card was charged, it was for TODAY (October 5-6) for $400.

Now my day is going to be spent fighting all of everyone else trying to call in, just to get this cancelled and my charge reversed. Tried going through the call centre, but they can’t even get into the hotel’s systems to reverse it from their end.

They did acknowledge that this year especially, their reservation system has been having all kinds of issues, and my case is not the only one they’ve seen so far.
