And damn I LOVED it. But now my brain has been constantly nagging at me to write something about my experience, but since I'm too lazy to write three full paragraphs about any game anymore, I'll just put some thoughts about my experience in here. So here we go:
-The final battle was AMAZING, and I wish every Bioware game had a sequence where you could fight alongside all of your companions. That first fight especially was so cool, and alongside the battle against the Archdemon these two really felt like full blown out wars. The armies mechanic (which I only used in the final fight just in case there was an achievement for saving them) reminded me a bit of Mount & Blade too.
-I didn't found the fight against the Archdemon to be that hard. It was a bit complicated, sure, but I honestly found the fights in the first area of Fort Drakon to be harder, though that may have been because I still had to worry about saving potions and stuff by that point. Then again, I'm also playing on Normal so I definitely shouldn't brag.
-From what little I've been around here (to avoid spoilers) I've seen that most people hate the Fade. I... kind of like it? I guess I can see why people don't like it, but I honestly found the transformation mechanic to be really fun and being a golem, in my opinion, was THE SHIT. So yeah, there's my unpopular opinion of the game.
-But of course, in order to be balance, there must be an area that in return, I hated. And that area is Orzammar. I don't know what the general concensus for this place is, and forgive me for this, but... I FUCKING HATED ORZAMMAR. I felt it was soooo long. It's like... like if the elves had two quests prior to the search of Witherfang or something like that. And there were minibosses EVERYWHERE. And the spiders, oh the Corrupted Spider Queen, ugh... So yeah that's my experience with Orzammar. Safe to say, I'm not looking forward to it on my next playthrough.
-On a lighter topic, while I did read a couple posts about mods (not the mods of reddit, but mods for the game), some of which I really want to try out, I decided not to install any for my first playthrough (actually, this is thecnically my second playthrough, since I played it a few years ago but never finished it). But damn, I had to make an exception and download the one that allows you to change your face (even if it isn't actually a mod) because my character was ugly af. It still looked a bit weird after I switched it, like a remastered version of the previous face, but it was still much, much better than the other one.
-I gotta say, having played all three MEs and Dragon Age 2 (though it was years ago and I barely remember anything about it, so let's just pretend I've never played it) this game has probably one of the best combinations of companions that I've seen in a Bioware game. If I had to rank it, I'd say it's second only to ME2, and it's a close second at that. Props to Bioware for creating such a fun ensemble of characters.
-Leliana best girl ♥
-And since we're on the topic of Leliana, I have to admit, I was so dissapointed to see the Battledress of the Provocateur from Leliana's Song was just a recolor of the normal leather armor. Sure, the stats were great, but the looks... I expected something along the lines of the Sacred Ashes trailer, a shame that wasn't the case. You can bet I'm getting a mod for it on my next playthrough, though.
And I think that's it. I just noticed these are actually like seven paragraphs, but oh well, it feels shorter with the space between them anyways. Thanks for sitting through all of this, by the way. Overall, I did really enjoyed the game, and I'm definitely looking forward to the expansions. Wish me luck, and stay strong, fellow Grey Wardens!
