Pretty sure it's (meaning hint) an animal. On the letters side I've got trick and restrict.
ETA: Well that was embarrassing. I sat there at "2 away" on both sides for like an hour before I realized it was not, in fact, a type of [19 away].
So if you're stuck, it is indeed an animal.
And - pretty big hint - if you mentally go through your nearest zoo you will stumble on it eventually.
