Welcome to Lyteology 101. I'll be your professor, Dr. PhD. FGT. JKJK. Lyte, your awesome cult leader and soothsayer of truth.
First, some basic phrases in Lytish, the language you'll be using in your final essay for this course.
Toxicity = everything with a real, a possibly real or an imaginary negative connotation.
Examples:
In response to someone saying a bad word.
"Gosh dangit, John, stop being so toxic!"
In response to someone doing something unprofessional.
"Wow, John, that's so toxic!"
In a heated argument, as a winning move.
"I can't handle your toxicity, John!"
As a method of describing ones motives for doing something innovative, without immediate results.
John's known for being a toxic member of this community.
As we can see, Toxicity is a really great blanket word, which you can use to describe virtually any event, thought or action. In your final essay, the minimum required use of "Toxicity" is 70 different uses.
Burden of knowledge (BoK) = A known phenomenon where everything you see must make sense at first glance, or it's subject to being burdening.
This is what Lyteology is at it's core. When you are admidst all this toxicity, one must wonder where all that toxicity is coming from? Usually, we can find most toxicity in the Burden of Knowledge, thrusted upon people against their own will. A few examples of common burdens:
Example 1.1: If an effect is not immediately visible
The doctors said something about me having lung cancer and it being possibly caused by my excessive smoking. I mean, even though it was printed on all my millions of packs of smokes I went through, it was really burdening to not see an immediate effect!
Example 1.2: If an action has an implicite reaction
Gosh, I don't know what happened. I was grinding away on my LoL account, when suddenly my wife just packed her bags and left. She mumbled something about me just giving up on life and investing my life on a stupid game instead of going to work or taking care of our children. I never knew this could happen!
For this week, your home assignments is to find as many toxic situations in your life. Then, after locating this toxicity, identify all burdens of knowledge which lead to this toxicity.
That'd be all.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Riot Lyte
