Okay so before you all jump to the conclusion that I'm just an idiot, hear me out. I'm doing earn by time because it's 24 dollars an hour right now. Obviously that means I'm getting a bunch of no tip orders, however it's fine because I'm getting paid enough anyways because of the earn by time rate. So, I do a pizza delivery. It is a meet at door order. I show up, the guy gets to the door, I hand them the pizza, and he says "I'll tip when I get upstairs." At least I'm 99% sure that's what he said because it was hard to understand him because clearly English was not his first language. So I assume he means he's going to tip in the app when he getsupstairs where his phone is because you're able to tip after delivery on DoorDash and he didn't say "wait here I'll get a tip" or anything. He simply said "I'll tip when I get upstairs." So come I marked the order is completed and drive off to my next delivery. However as I start driving and thinking about it I'm hoping he didn't mean he was going to tip me in cash and I drove away from possibly getting a tip. He also never messaged me to be late hey, where'd you go I have your tip. So while I know what chances are I was just an idiot and missed out on a tip due to a miscommunication, but if someone said they're going to tip when they get upstairs wouldn't you also assume that means they're going to tip in the app afterwards? Either way, I still made a good amount of money from the order anyways because of the earn and by time so it wasn't too bad of a loss and the customer gets to keep a little extra money in this pocket.
