Does this game have PvP?

Hi. Game is on sale. Thinking about buying. I like going into these types of games blind, so I'm just asking if it has PvP. I don't mean "I can fight my friend". I mean can I fight other random players. Or can me and my friend fight against another duo and stuff like that.
Is there a "mode" that you have to play, or can you set it to a "public" lobby or something?
Any answers would be much appreciated. Or even just a breakdown of how the PvP works.
