Achievements?

One of the biggest problems this game has, for me anyway, is lack of replay-ability after you've gotten far enough.
If there were difficult to get achievements, ones that might even unlock vanity items or a variety of things, it could offer more end-game type things to do after you've gotten to day 100 and built an impenetrable base.
Thoughts/opinions? Would this be an improvement or am I just horribly and absolutely wrong?
