I've played a number of victory-based kingdoms, but in recent expansions there haven't been all that many, with the exception of Allies. Castles are lot of fun, in part because there are so many different ones, and from a design perspective because there is the challenge of balancing cards at every pricepoint between $3 and $10. For this collection, I tried keeping in mind each of the castles at the equivalent price point, and creating a different card that fits a similar role. I imagine that if these were in use, you would randomly use half of them instead of half the normal castles. in multiplayer, you might choose to add any four castles to bring the pile up to 12.
This is a weak cantrip but with the potential of having better scaling than Humble Castle, and potentially being a bit better than Great Hall for that reason.
An early game trash for benefit, a combination of a more versatile but weaker moneylender with the option to remove this from your deck if you don't want it anymore without losing VP.
This won't allow you to gain a castle as an action, but in exchange it will make every other castle a little bit easier to buy in the future.
Just as Haunted Castle is a one time Ghost Ship, this is a one time attack inspired by Mountebank and Sea Hag. Also like Haunted Castle, it is a harsh attack that is balanced by making only happen once per game.
An expensive treasure-victory, which is a gainer instead of a payload card. This can't be used to gain expensive cards, but is a powerful pile driver.
Just like Sprawling Castle, this needs to be able to directly compete with Province due to its price. It uses a tunnel-esque reaction to get to that point, which does mean its a bit swingy, but its an late-game enough card that it shouldn't be too much better than province most of the time.
A strong one-time trasher, but in many kingdoms you may not have a lot of cards that you want to trash left by the time you get one if there were other trashers available earlier. I think it's fairly equivalent in power to Grand Castle.
Originally this was exile a dutchy per castle, but then it seemed too weak for a $10, and directly weaker than King's Castle in many circumstances, both because it didn't score 2 VP on its own, and because you needed to line it up with a lot of other castles to make it worth it. This allows you instead to gain any alt-VP card that may be worth more than a dutchy.
Is it on purpose that Prince's Castle benefits all players?
