Tl;dr How many here are unable to fill a prescription because your vet won't work with chewy?
The back story is my wife's a school teacher and our state gives them all the summer money right in the beginning but always conveniently shortened by one check. Guess that's to make sure they come back next year. Any responsible person will take the amount of money and divided by the number of checks needed. And try to cut things short. Not easy to do with Blue Cross and Blue shield decides to raise your health insurance by another $100. I will soon be paying them more than what I'm paying for my mortgage.
The issue. I've been getting a 3-in-1 hardworm preventative for my vet we're low on money and I found a good deal on chewy. My vet won't fill the prescription because they claim that my dog who just been given the last of heartworm preventative needs to be tested for heartworms. They claim this is a standard to do once a year for dogs over a year old. I asked them if this was anything they've ever done for my two year old black lab. They informed me that they have never tested him for heartworms and have been continuing to fill this prescription through them without issues.
My take away. Their desire to not fill a prescription through chewy is either because of a policy they weren't properly following or a policy they just instituted. It could also be that they just want me to come in there and spend money with them.
The end result. Now they've driven me to go to the county schedule an appointment with them if necessary I will spend $20 a dog to get heartworm tests and they sell the heartworm preventative there.
What they could have done. They could have just told me they do not partner with chewy and brought up cheaper alternatives because I was complaining about not having the money.
