Hi all! I've been thinking about getting a small dog for a while, and doing tons of research. I'm confident in the fact that I can take care of a dog, but for some reason I feel like I can't accurately picture what life would look like for me if I had a dog at home. I can see myself going on walks, going to the park and playing, but I have very little idea of what it's like to share a small space with a dog. I live with my partner and we have a nice small-dog friendly apartment. It's spacious by Seattle standards, but it's still a one bedroom apartment. I grew up with a family dog, but that was in a big house with a yard he liked to spend a lot of his time in. He was also one of the laziest dogs on the planet. He was known for walking about five minutes before he'd veer off into a ditch and lay down in it. Up until the day he passed, pretty much every worry we had with him just turned out to be him being weird and lazy.
Sometimes I get worried about constantly sharing my space, but then I remember I have a hyperactive partner who constantly makes weird little noises, so a dog would be a similar level of intrusive, if not less lol.
So while I have dog experience, I haven't had a dog experience like the one I'd be signing up for now. So, I'm curious; what's apartment life like with a partner and a pup? What are the good parts and the bad parts? DO you have any advice for sharing a relatively small space with another person AND a dog?
Please lmk :-) I'd love to have a dog but I don't want to get one until I have a clear picture of what it would look like for me!
