My dog was attacked by an off-leash pup around a week ago. The other person took off before I got their info. I immediately took her to the vet and she had nothing too serious (scratches and scrapes) which I’m happy about because I got a gnarly bite from breaking up the attack. Ever since then, she has been terrified to go outside. She is typically very high-energy and would walk/run/swim all day if she could. Now, she doesn’t even want to use the restroom. She won’t eat unless I’m by her, she has started to sleep in the bed with me (she chose to stop sleeping in my bed at 5 months), she has nightmares and cries in her sleep. I took her back to the vet for a second checkup just in case they missed anything and they said she is physically fine (I completely trust their opinion), I just don’t know the steps to take so she can enjoy her life again. She cries and hides when she sees other dogs! Even my dad’s dog who she has known since I brought her home and is 1/4th her size scares her. I am still shaken up too so I don’t blame her for being scared, but is there anything I can do make it easier for her while also gaining progress? There is no aggression when she sees dogs, she just wants to go in the opposite direction.
