Thinking about adopting a Newfoundland/ Rottweiler mix from the shelter, need advice from large breed owners.

Post Body

I currently have 2 dogs, an older black lab and a one year old pit/terrier mix (our COVID puppy lol). They are both super friendly and love people and other dogs. We have a huge fenced in yard and money isn’t an issue. I wasn’t in the market for a new dog but our local no kill shelter has a ten week old male Newfoundland/ Rottweiler they’re having trouble getting adopted because people are understandably concerned about his future size- up to 150lbs. I was dropping off donations to them today and fell in love. I’ve had biggish dogs before, our lab is currently a little overweight at 80lbs but this is obviously another level. I don’t know anyone personally with a huge dog so I thought I’d ask about here things I need to consider. (I’ve posted this on the Newfoundland specific subreddit but they don’t seem to get a lot of activity.) Any advice or thoughts or NEED TO KNOWS about extra large breeds? Thanks!
