Training is going so well. He has perfect recall 9/10 times. I took ages to get to this stage. We go on our off leash walks at 5 am so that we encounter no humans and any other problems like him walking up to people. He is good friends with every stray that lives near or around the trail and will run around with them while following us.

But when he smells poop, holy shit, everything goes out of the window. He only goes after it sometimes, but when he does, he will ignore recall, the other dogs that are trying to play with him and everything else. I really don't want to leash him for something that happens once or twice on our walk. Most of the times, if I run after him, he will think its a game and then stop eating the poop. Nothing else works. No treats, no raw meat.

Is there a way I can stop this? Its really ruining all the work we have put in for recall training and getting used to waking up so early.
