Post Body

We recently adopted this sweet boy a little over a month ago. He's a year and a half old malamute mix. He adjusted fairly quickly and things have been great!

We've been playing around the house this morning, he got the zoomies as we haven't been to exercise yet and suddenly, when I squeaked his favorite toy he ran, tail tucked and hid, looking terrified. I would call him and he'd come towards me and even to me, but it only lasted for a few seconds before he would freak out and go back to hide. Later, we realized his toys were next to me.

I decided to get in the floor, in his line of sight, to see if he would come over to us and as soon as he saw me he crawled over and snuggled up to me. He's breathing kind of heavily and occasionally he pants, but there's no reason he should be, he's just been laying down for the last hour or so and like I said, we haven't been to exercise yet.

We got him up and around, he was acting normally again so we grabbed another is his favorite toys that doesn't squeak to play and he immediately tucked his tail and ran to hide in the other room. We tried a couple of more times, calling him back and picking up a toy, all with the same running response.

Anyone ever had anything like this happen? We're concerned we should take him to the vet but nothing is really "wrong", things just seem off so I don't want to panic and get myself a huge unnecessary vet bill. TIA!
