Good Afternoon All!

Long-time reader, first-time poster. I'm looking for recommendations on dry dog foods that are good for re-hydrating/ softening with broth.

Back story: My old hound dog (female/ 12 years/ rescued mutt) has lost about all of her teeth (pulled by the vet a couple of months ago). I'm not able to purchase canned food for her for the rest of her life. I've been supplementing with dry food that I let sit in chicken broth I make for about 45 minutes. I stir it around so the pieces get covered. She's been doing well so far. I've noticed if I rush it and don't let the food sit long enough she eats it much more slowly so I've been diligent about heating up and letting the food sit long enough to soften.

But I have noticed some brands don't soften up much and stay about the same size - weirdly they do soak up most of the broth - while others double in size. Does anyone have experience doing this or just tips to keep in mind? I was thinking about buying a lot of the right kind of dog food online, but didn't want to buy a lot until I had a good idea of the right kind.

Thank you for any tips or help!
