He’s at a local shelter which is more like a rescue than a shelter because they interview the families that are surrendering their dog for further placement. This little guy that I almost missed was in a kennel that I hadn’t seen. It lined the pavement that went to the bigger dogs kennels. The first thing that I thought when I saw him was “This puppy is deaf”. I could tell by his unique coloring (all white, long haired, purebred weenie dog - they’re called double dapple instead of double Merle) and eyes (one blue, one brown). He was calm and collected, interested in his treat, and painfully adorable. I think his deafness is what stole my heart. As an ASL interpreting student who also trains my service dog with hand signals, I just felt like he was made perfectly for me. I have done so much research since seeing him yesterday. I have so many ideas on how to train him. My heart literally explodes when I think of this guy.
But, it’s up to their board and my dog ultimately if it will work out. He’s younger (I think - they didn’t give an age, but he just got neutered today) than I wanted for a companion for myself and Odin, but he’s just painfully perfect.
