I have an 8 month old Malamute and I’m wondering if I exercise her enough. I know they’re not built for speed, but rather they’re made for endurance. She gets 10 minutes of play in the morning before I leave for work (we tried a 10 minute walk, but she got over stimulated) and she goes right back to sleep when I crate her for a few hours. My boyfriend works from home so she’s with him all day going between sleeping/playing with him/playing with toys by herself then when I get home she eats, I give her food about 30 minutes to settle then I take her on a 2 mile walk. We get home from that walk 2 hours before her bedtime. I’m wondering if this is enough exercise because she’s been waking up stupid early lately.
I’m adjusting her big crate tonight to give her more room since she had a little divider in there because it’s huge as well in case that might be a factor. Has making more room in the crate helped anyone’s dog sleep a little better?
Edit: I didn’t think to add, she doesn’t just chill all day like I said in the comments she sprints around our 5 bedroom house taking on all sorts of obstacles for probably 1.5 hours a day all together.
