I’ve had Doggy for four years since she was a tiny baby, small enough to fit on my palm. Now I’m facing a job relocation to another state about 6 hours drive away.
My issue with this job relocation is also with the responsibilities that come with it. I expect myself to be outstation for longer stretches, a bit more intensive than my current schedule.
For now I’ve had awesome housemates who are willing to feed her and make sure her food and water is adequate when I’m not around. I’ll come back after the trips and do the cleaning up and take her for walks etc.
I recently put her up for adoption in pet rescue FB pages and there was a potential adopter. But a part of me is saying this is a time where I should put in more effort. I should make it work to live with my dog.
There’s no doubt I will miss her but I hate that I don’t spend enough time with her. Another part is saying, if someone can attend to her needs and treat her better, I should let her go.
How do I know if giving her up for adoption is the best for her? Am I letting go too easily?
