Post Body

A few days ago i posted here about a puppy that came into my care. The guy who got her (the husband of my cousin in law will call him LS) brought her over and asked us to keep her that night and that we should "co-parent" we thought he was kidding and we laughed but he was being serious. So we take her in thinking it'll be a one night only thing. Now as soon as i saw the puppy i knew she was too young. 4-5 weeks tops. I told him this and let him know she shouldn't be left alone too long. I also told him he needed to take her to the vet right away. He said he would.

So we keep the puppy that night but then he doesn't come pick her up the next day. So we txt him the following day and ask if he's picking her up. He comes over and picks her up. I tell him again she needs a vet he again says he will take her. I tell him to bring her over at night if he's planning on leaving her outside to sleep, because a puppy that young should not be staying outside. So he brings her back at night. We keep her for another night and day. All this time we thought he was spending quality time with her when he took her. Boy were we wrong.

Saturday rolls around and i work all day. My husband stays with the pup and i txt him asking if he came over for her. My husband txts LS about the puppy again and to remind him about the vet. He takes her again and i txt my husband and tell him to ask for the puppy back because It's raining and i know she'll be outside. Puppy doesn't have any shots could easily get sick. My husband txts LS again and tells him what i said. He txts back saying he's in a town about an hour away. He took the puppy left her in a cage and then left. So my husband went to his house and got her back. My husband's other cousin told him that LS only brings the pup over, puts her in the cage and leaves. So he had not been spending any time with her.

My husband tells me the puppy got so happy when he brought her back home. She also got so happy when i got home from work. So the pup had bonded with us and she already sees us as her family. So we decided fuck it she's ours now. So yesterday we took her to the vet. Vet says she's about 4 weeks old maybe even 3 and a half which i already suspected. She's so young and we're doing the best we can. Vet gave us everything we need to care for a pup this young. I have two other dogs so luckily i somewhat know what to do. We have renamed her Vivi. The guy still doesn't know we decided to keep her. I wanna tell him but I'm also worried he'll want to take her back. I think he believes we'll give her back once she's all grown up but there's no way in hell that's happening. My biggest fear right now is that he'll want to take her someday just because he's the one who got her. He didn't pay for her. Some lady was giving her away at a supermarket and he took her so it's not like he has invested any money or time at all in her. Vivi already loves us and we love her. She's such a sweet girl and she loves cuddles, probably because she's so young. She also loves to use my face as a bed which i don't really mind.

Sorry for the long rant. It's just we were in no way planning to get another dog because we have 2 and because of where we live. Let alone a big breed dog (seems like Vivi is a chocolate lab) we thought about rehoming her. I didn't want to because i love her so i turn to my husband. He says it's a good idea but that he doesn't want to either. So now we have a new dog. We'll soon be moving to another place and so her being a big dog won't be at all a problem then. If you made it this far then thanks for reading.
