I can't seem to find any information online about the problem I'm having. I have two dogs which are both generally very friendly and love to play with each other. However there have been a few times where something happens and there is obvious aggression. I'm not sure if it's treats/snacks or toys (although most of the time they don't care about toys).

Before the fight starts there's a point where they are both staring each other down with hackles up and deep growls coming from both of them. My question is what would be the best thing to do to try and stop them from fighting. I've tried grabbing one of them but the other one attacks at that point. Many of the situations where they fight it's difficult for me to get to both of them to grab them by the scruff at the same time. Any thoughts/ideas/experiences would be great because I'm not sure what to do other than break up the fight once it starts.
