A few months back my friend and I got a call from my friend at like 12am on his way home, he said he found a dog and didn't know who else to call. He lived like 2 minutes away so I drove over to find a cop, my friend, and my friend's dad all standing around a side yard with a Doberman in it. The my friend proceeded to tell us that she was found with an (empty) food bowl and a water bowl. The cop confirmed that she had been dumped there and said that because she wasn't dangerous that he couldn't put her in his squad car, and then had to respond to a break-in call and left. My friend's dad went to go inside to find something to feed the dog and came out with bread. My friend couldn't take her because he didn't have a fenced in yard, so we spent almost all night feeding her bread and trying to get a slip leash I keep in my car over her head. Finally she let me put the leash on her and so I walked her over to my house and put her in my yard, we decided to name her Sasha. My friend left because he had work in the morning. I slept outside with Sasha that night so she wouldn't be alone. In the morning I woke up and called animal control, but they said they couldn't come get her until monday (it was saturday). I decided to go to the emergency vet to see if she had a microchip, she didn't. A few hours later I called my vet (and family friend) to see what I should do. She told me that she could take Sasha for a few days, get her up to date on shots and monitor her and see if she can get her into the SPCA after doing a temperament test, if not she would go to a Doberman rescue (she is a saint). Just as a precaution, she told me to post a very simple ad on craigslist saying if anyone was missing a Dobe they should contact me , so I did. A couple of days later a woman contacted me and said it was her dog, she had pictures, lived relatively close to me, and had an explanation of why she was missing. This was obviously her dog, so I told her where she was and she thanked me. The next day (when she was supposed to pick up her dog) she told me that unfortunately she couldn't keep her anymore and left her at the shelter. Fast forward to this week, I was on the SPCA website, and I see Sasha's picture! She had made it into the SPCA! and the best part? She had already been adopted!
TL;DR The dog my friend and I found abandoned has been adopted from the SPCA and now has a furever home!
