I often see people talking very negatively about dog parks. There are some points which are certainly true. Some owners have not acclimated their dogs to such a place and/or simply don't seem to care when their dog is causing trouble. My experience has been mixed, but overall good. I've raised 3 dogs in my lifetime. They all ended up loving dog parks and being well behaved most of the time. A couple of them weren't always well behaved all of the time. On the occasion they weren't well behaved and could not be sufficiently corrected in the moment, we just left. The same can be said for at least 90% of the dogs and owners we've come across (meaning the other dog owners I saw were aware of their dog being inappropriate and either figured it out or left). My current dog absolutely loves playing with other dogs. Besides cuddling up with me, playing with other dogs is the happiest I've ever see him despite trying everything I've ever heard of to enrich his life in other ways. Nothing seems to be able to replace that experience for him. So I have strong feelings when people say that dog parks are bad. Is my experience weird?
