Yesterday we bought our dog fresh discs of beef marrow bone (like where they slice a larger bone into sections) from a local butcher. He LOVED it and sat on the towel licking at it very happily for a long time. I took it away from him after an hour or so because I know the marrow can be rich and cause stomach upsets, although today he had no unusual reactions.
Just wondering what your overall thoughts and experiences with raw bones are. This is our first time giving him a raw bone and there are so many opposing opinions on it out there. He's not an aggressive chewer so he hardly chewed on it, mostly licked the marrow and gnawed a little on the edges, and he was supervised the whole time.
If you do give raw/frozen bones, do you thaw them first? How long can they be kept in the freezer before they go bad (ours were butchered yesterday)? If he had no stomach upset from the marrow, can I give it back to him today for a little bit too? What do you all think about raw bones?
