Does anyone not do their monthly flea and tick treatment during the winter months? My mom doesn't do it for her yellow lab from November-March and I'm wondering if anyone else skips those months or applies it once every two months?

I have a beagle mix, about 4 years old, doesn't go to dog parks, doggie daycare and we live in an apartment in Maryland. He doesn't spend much time around other dogs other than my parents yellow lab. I've done some reading on other forums and some say that the cold weather is less likely to breed fleas and ticks, but I've also read that ticks can handle cold weather better than warm weather.

Anyone skip monthly flea and tick treatments during the winter or apply it only every other month?
