Hi all, I’m looking to get a sheltie as my first dog!! Although I have a question about how people how own dogs deal with work time. I have had a few people tell me that you absolutely can’t leave a dog alone for any longer than an hour and it’s cruel. So my question is; Me and my wife work from 8-5, Mon-Fri. We have a decent sized garden that a dog could run in and out of and have access to the house as well via a doggy door while we are at work. We have a very sociable cat and are happy to get any toys or things a dog may want to play with. Is that still not an acceptable thing to do with a dog? Or do we have to take it to a daycare when we are at work?
