Vet vs clinic...is there an actual difference other than price?

Post Body

So we are coming up on spay time. Almost 8 months old. Our vet quoted $400. The clinic quoted $60. I have thoughts and wanted to see if they are valid or if there are things I may be overlooking.

  1. Vet is a private practice. Naturally things will cost more.
  2. BUT...vet also does a wide range of things. Dog ate chocolate, cat is shitting Christmas tinsel, goldfish is shedding, ferret is in labor, etc.
  3. Clinic probably has a lot more spays done for the obvious reason of cost. Does that equate better experience? Maybe.
  4. Does the vet do things that the clinic does not? I have no idea.
